Florida Springs Trip

Just had a great weekend. Bill Williams and I decided to snokel as many springs as we could in a 3 day period. The plan was to leave Friday morning and get home Sunday evening. We sure had a lot of fun. Friday we did Rock, Wekiva, Blue, Alexander, Silver Glen, and Salt Springs. We spent the night in Alachua just north of Gainsville. On Saturday we did Ichetucknee, Blue Hole, Branford, Little River, Layfette Blue, Troy, and Peacock Springs. That night we stayed in Madison Florida. Sunday we did Madison Blue, Hart, Fanning and Manatee Springs. In the end we were sun burned and water logged but had a blast.

Andersonville Prison

Well, just got back from our Georgia trip. Bill Williams, a big Civil War buff, had never been to the  Andersonville Prison outside of Americus. We drove up Saturday morning and as a bonus we stopped at the Georgia Veterans Golf Course to see the war museum. Then we headed over to the prison. If you’ve never been they now have a POW museum also. Both are very moving and a testament to mans will power against all odds. The history of the prison plus the cemetery is a must see for the Civil War historian.
